Menudo Got Older. So They’re Bringing Motorcycles.
Seven former members from different eras are reuniting for Menudo 50, where lower keys, sore muscles, and a giant pop memory collide.

The bikes are coming back
Picture seven grown men rehearsing old dance steps until their bodies complain. Soon, motorcycles are expected to roll onstage for “Súbete A Mi Moto,” Menudo’s 1981 hit.
That image rules because Menudo was built to avoid this exact moment. Its singers were teenagers, and they were usually replaced around age 16. The machine stayed young by swapping out the humans.
Now the humans are the point. The Menudo 50 tour begins October 10 at YouTube Theater in Inglewood, California, with seven former members sharing the official Menudo name.
A band that never existed—until now
René Farrait, Roy Rosselló, Raymond Acevedo, Sergio “Blass” González, Ralphy Rodríguez, Rubén Gómez, and Robert Avellanet come from Menudo eras spanning 1979 through 1991.
They weren’t all bandmates at the same time. Acevedo said he had never shared a Menudo stage with Farrait before. That makes this less like one old band re-forming and more like several school photos stepping out of their frames.
More than 40 performers passed through Menudo over its history. Ricky Martin and Draco Rosa were among them. Menudo was a pop assembly line, except the assembly line made screaming fans and Spanish-language hits.
Nobody has to pretend they’re 15
The reunion isn’t trying to freeze time under a layer of hairspray. Avellanet said the group had felt the physical toll after three weeks of rehearsals.
Rodríguez said some of the old high songs are being lowered by about three steps. A musical key is the home base of a song’s notes; lowering it lets a singer reach the melody without wrestling the ceiling.
Good. Let the songs sit where the voices live now. There’s something far cooler about a performer adjusting the music than faking a teen voice until everyone’s embarrassed.
The route draws a loud line home
After Inglewood, the tour heads to Rosemont on October 23, New York on November 7, Mexico City on November 28, and Hollywood, Florida, on December 4. It ends December 12 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
That final stop gives the whole thing a pulse. Menudo began in Puerto Rico during the late 1970s, long before Latin pop’s current global scale. The route moves through major Latino-pop cities, then lands back where the story started.
There’s one tiny wrinkle: official material calls this a 50th-anniversary tour, though it also says Menudo debuted in 1977. The math points to 2027. Pop has never been afraid of arriving fashionably early.
The real reunion is with time
Nostalgia usually asks audiences to squint. Remember when everyone was young? Remember when nothing hurt? Menudo 50 does something stranger and better: it puts the years under stage lights.
These singers are learning each other’s histories, changing the keys, and climbing back onto motorcycles for a song from another lifetime. That’s not a museum display. That’s a time machine with a bad back and a killer entrance.
Kick the engine. Sing it lower. Go home loud. ] }],”socialCaption”:”Menudo was designed to replace its singers when they got older.
